Description
The BEST Cable and Wire Harness Assembly course is a comprehensive hands-on training program that offers practical experience in building complete wire harness assemblies. This course combines the inspection aspect with practical wire harness assembly skills.
During the course, students learn wire preparation, solder terminations, coaxial terminations, pin crimp terminations, IDC terminations, splicing, lug crimp terminations, and harness securing through a series of hands-on labs. Students can choose to attend the entire course, or companies can tailor the training to their specific needs.
The course adheres to the IPC/WHMA-A-620 specification. We recommend that students who are interested in taking this wire harness assembly course should already be familiar with the IPC/WHMA-620 standard. In the final part of the course, students are given the materials needed to build a wire harness assembly. They must interpret drawings, prepare wires and cables based on a cut list, select the appropriate wire type, wire jacket color, and determine wire lengths for the harness.
This course can be conducted at a BEST training site, the mobile training center, or at a company's facility. Graduates of the wire harness training class receive a certificate of completion from BEST.
