IPC J-STD-001 (CIS) Space Application

The J-STD-001 Space Addendum training emphasizes the differences between the J-STD-001 Base document, Class 3 criteria, and the J-STD-001 Space Addendum criteria.

Description

The J-STD-001 Space Electronics Hardware Addendum is 1 additional module that extends IPC J-STD-001 to ensure the reliability of soldered electronic assemblies in space environments. It includes a lecture covering the addendum's sections and a 25-question open-book exam with an 80% passing requirement. This module, not part of the regular J-STD-001 course, is available only to specialist (CIS) who has already obtained IPCJ-STD-001 certification

Certification is essential for suppliers to NASA and others mandated to use the addendum, including trainers, quality supervisors, engineers, and manufacturing supervisors involved in assembly. CIT students receive instructional materials for conducting Certified IPC Specialist Training, while CIS students receive training materials and an IPC Certificate of Training.
