IPC J-STD-001 (CIT)

This course emphasizes process control and establishes industry-consensus requirements for the operator in the electronics assembly process. This is a "train the trainer" course.

Description

IPC J-STD-001 certification establishes expertise in Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, a global authority in electronics assembly manufacturing. This certification prepares individuals to deliver Certified IPC Application Specialist (CIS) training, enhancing employee skills and performance while meeting training requirements.

Ideal candidates for certification include Training Managers, Assembly Process Engineers, Quality Assurance Supervisors, and those responsible for soldered electronic assembly quality and reliability. The IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) course follows a train-the-trainer model, combining soldering labs, demonstrations, and classroom discussions to teach the standard's criteria. Successful candidates receive instructional materials for training operators.

It's worth noting that this course is advanced, and prior soldering experience is highly recommended. To earn certification, participants must demonstrate lab soldering meeting J-STD-001 requirements, as determined by the master instructor, and achieve a score of 80% or better on both the IPC open and closed book examinations.

Topics Covered:

  • Instructional skills and the roles and responsibilities of registered instructors

  • General requirements (safety, tools, and electrostatic discharge (ESD))

  • Wire and terminal assembly requirements, demonstrations, and laboratory

  • Through hole technology requirements, demonstrations, and laboratory

  • Surface mount technology requirements, demonstrations, and laboratory
